Physical Activity for Health

We want everyone in Cardiff to have the opportunity to be physically active and enjoy sport.

Physical activity benefits our physical and mental health, well-being and improves our quality of life.

We work with communities in Cardiff who are less active and face specific barriers that make it more difficult for them to access opportunities take part in physical activity.

Move More is all about getting more people active by increasing people’s awareness of resources and opportunities to improve knowledge, confidence and competence.

~ Ben Williams, Move More Manager

What we do

We support physical activity and community sport in Cardiff by:

  • We’ve supported people to continue with exercise classes by extending the programme of activities available to them. Watch the video to learn more: English/Welsh.

  • Working with local community connectors and other social prescribers to promote physical activity opportunities in Cardiff. Download our guide to physical activity in the city here: English/Welsh.

  • Partnering with physical activity, sports and leisure providers to expand the range of opportunities for people in Cardiff.

  • Providing information and training for health care practitioners, social prescribers and physical activity/sport providers.

  • Utilising a strong evidence-based approach for our programmes and working closely with the Centre for Health, Activity and Wellbeing Research (CAWR), an interdisciplinary research group at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

We are working in partnership with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, community sport and leisure providers, the third sector and others.
